The weather over the last couple of weeks has been great, long sunny days, although a little cold at night still. We have had a couple of days when the temperature has been near 20C. Daffodils are blooming and a lot of the fruit trees are opening their petals. In Portugal we are allowed to have bonfires until the end of March when the fire season starts. This year we have already seen a couple of fires in the distance towards the mountains. Today  we were surprised and a little concerned when a fire appeared on the ridge opposite, and burned for most of the afternoon. At one point there was a huge burst of flame accompanied by a loud roar, I was worried it might come down the hill, and even cross the road. Thanks to the Bombeiros it is now just smoldering, and looks as though the worst is over.
